If you are planning to join the University of Kenya, admission requirements to undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA and PhD courses are as indicated below.

Entry requirements: Netherlands

At Kent we consider all applications on their individual merit and welcome students from the Netherlands with a wide variety of qualifications and experience.

Below you will find standard entry requirements for students from the Netherlands. Please note that these are average requirements and some departments may have slightly higher or lower entry criteria.

UNDERGRADUATE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For entry to year 1 of our undergraduate degree programmes, we usually require students from the Netherlands to have completed their VWO with an overall mark of at least 7.2 or better.

International Baccalaureate Diploma: We have a standard IB Diploma offer of 34 points overall across all programmes of study including any specific subjects at higher or standard level required by the particular degree programme. As an alternative to achieving 34 points, the University will also make offers for most programmes of study of passing the IB Diploma with specific achievement in higher/standard level subjects.

For students studying for the European Baccalaureate, we would normally ask them to get an average result of 75% or more Offer levels vary depending on the course and some courses may state specific required subjects. ‘Maths GCSE’ may be required which means that students must achieve high scores in Maths.

English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English language ability. The University of Kent accepts:

  • IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing  Or
  • VWO English – 8 out of 10
  • European Baccalaureate – 7.0 in written English (first language) 7.5 (if second language) or 8.0 (if third language)
  • We also accept Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency Grade C, Cambridge Advanced Certificate Grade B and TEEP. Pleasecontact the University for details.

SECOND YEAR ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Second year entry

The University will consider students for 2nd year entry on an individual basis if they have successfully completed a course of academic study from a reputable institution of similar content and level to Year 1 of the relevant Kent degree.

English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English language ability. The University of Kent accepts:

  • IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing  Or
  • VWO English – 8 out of 10
  • European Baccalaureate – 7.0 in written English (first language) 7.5 (if second language) or 8.0 (if third language)
  • We also accept Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency Grade C, Cambridge Advanced Certificate Grade B and TEEP. Pleasecontact the University for details.

Postgraduate entry requirements

The University considers students for postgraduate study who have completed the equivalent of a good UK honours degree from a reputable international institution. For students who have been to university in the Netherlands, this is normally completion of the Bachelor with an overall grading of at least 7 out of 10.

English Language Requirements: If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English language ability. The University of Kent accepts:

  • IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing

MBA and postgraduate business programmes

Postgraduate

To apply for a postgraduate taught programme at Kent Business School applicants need to submit:

  • Proof of academic achievement. This normally would be an honours degree (2:1 or above) from a UK or other approved university and/or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • A ‘Statement of Purpose’ outlining your reasons for applying to the programme. A programme specific essay may be required for borderline applications.
  • Two references at least one of which must be academic.
  • Proof of English Language proficiency, please see below

English Language Requirements

  • IELTS 7.0 (no less than 6.5 in reading and writing)
  • Cambridge Advanced Certificate A

In addition applicants applying for the MSc Value Chain Management programme who meet the admissions criteria will be required to have a personal telephone interview with the Programme Director as part of the admissions process.

Kent MBA programme

You can apply for the Kent MBA online via the University of Kent’s online prospectus. Please ensure all supporting documentation is submitted with your online application form or scanned and emailed to [email protected]. You will be required to show the originals of your scanned documents when you come to enrol onto the programme. On receipt of your online application, you will receive an acknowledgement email.
All applicants who meet the admissions criteria will be required to have a personal telephone interview with the Programme Director as part of the Admissions process.

What entry requirements do you need?

To apply for the Kent MBA you will need to submit:

  • A completed online application form
  • Proof of academic achievement. This normally would be an honours degree from a UK or other approved university and/or an equivalent professional qualification. Exceptions will be considered for senior managers with more than ten years work experience.
  • A ‘Statement of Purpose’ outlining your reasons for applying to the programme. A programme specific essay may be required for borderline applications.
  • A full and detailed curriculum vitae (CV) or résumé in which you demonstrate your career progression. A minimum of three years’ managerial work experience is required to apply for the Kent MBA.
  • Copy of the photo ID page of your current passport for UKVI immigration regulations. (International Students only)
  • Two professional references, one of which must be from your current employer covering at least two years’ experience.
  • Applicants are required to take the GMAT and achieve a good test score, which is balanced across all parts of the GMAT. A minimum GMAT score of 580 or equivalent GRE score will be required from students (Comparison tool:www.ets.org/s/gre/flash/bschool/comparison). Lower test scores will be considered on a case by case basis at the discretion of the Programme Director. Those applicants with five or more years of work experience or who already hold a Masters degree will be required to submit a ‘GMAT waiver form‘ with their application form. The GMAT requirement may be waived only at the discretion of the Programme Director and only in exceptional circumstances.

PhD ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

If you would like to pursue a PhD at Kent, you should visit the relevant department website to identify potential supervisors for your research and thesis. You are encouraged to then make direct contact with the appropriate academic to discuss your research proposal.

If the academic is interested in considering you as a PhD candidate, you will be required to submit a written research proposal for your PhD and may then subsequently be asked to complete the postgraduate application form.
