KCSE Grade Required To Study Medicine and Surgery in Kenya

26126

A Degree in Medicine and Surgery is the best course to pursue in Kenya. The qualification in KCSE determines whether you will study the course at our local universities or not. The highest grade you can score in KCSE is A plain, which is the grade required to pursue this course at the University of Nairobi. If you have A plain of 82 points and above, chances of pursuing Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery are high.

There are over 10 universities offering Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, they include University of Nairobi,Moi University,JKUAT,Maseno University, Kenya Methodist University, Mount Kenya University and Egerton University. These universities demand varying KCSE grades to admit students for the course. The most popular,UoN,requires A plain for regular students and at least a B+ for parallel students while Moi University require at least A- of 78 points,Maseno University the same and KU at least A- of 79 points. It is easier to pursue Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at private universities because with just a C+,you can get admission to Kenya Methodist University or Mount Kenya University.

As a Kenyan who wants to pursue this course, you have a choice between public universities and private universities, but I would strongly encourage you to join public universities because the quality of education there is high.
