For undergraduate admission requirement to Egerton University, one has to seek direct or indirect admission. Indirect admission occurs when one already possesses a diploma course and wants to upgrade while direct admission is for those fresh from high schools. The admission requirement for each course is as follows:

1. Diploma in Livestock Resources Management Certificate with at least credit in Agriculture, Animal Health, Range Management, Wildlife Management and related disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

2. Diploma in Farm Resource Management Certificate with at least Credit Pass in an agricultural related courses from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects..

3. Diploma in Dairy Technology Certificate in Dairy Technology with at least credit from an institution recognized by the Egerton University Senate OR

A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

4. Diploma in Horticulture Certificate in Agriculture or related course with at least credit from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

5. BSc. Agriculture Diploma with at least a credit in Agriculture and related disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

6. BSc. Horticulture Diploma with at least a credit in Agriculture and related disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

7. BSc. in Soil Environment & Land Use Management – Diploma with at least a credit in Agriculture and related disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects

8. BSc. Animal Science and Technology -Diploma with at least a credit in Animal Science, Animal Health, Agriculture, Range Management and related disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

9. BSc. Dairy Technology & Management -Diploma with at least a credit in Dairy Technology, or equivalent in areas related to Dairy Technology from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

10. BSc. Food Science & Technology – Diploma in Food Technology with at least a credit in areas related to Food Science from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

11. BSc. Agricultural Economics (AGEC) -Diploma with at least a credit in Agricultural related course from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

12. Bachelor of Agribusiness Management (AGBM) -Diploma with at least a credit in agricultural related course from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

13. Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management – Certificate in a Business field with a credit from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate and having a minimum of grade D+ in their KCSE.

-Holders of Accounting, Technical Certificate (ATC) final level are also eligible for admission

– A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

14. Diploma in Business Management. Certificate with at least credit in a Business field from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate and having a minimum grade of D+ (Plus) in their KCSE.

Holders of Accounting, Technical Certificate (ATC) final level are also eligible for admission.

-A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

15. Diploma in Human Resource Management – Certificate with a credit in Business field from institutions recognized by the University Senate, and have a minimum grade of D+ in KCSE.

-Holders of Accounting Technical Certificate (ATC) final level

-A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subject

16. Bachelor of Commerce -Holders of CPA II OR Diploma holders in Co-operative Management, Banking, Finance, Agri-Business, Marketing, Insurance and Risk Management and Management Science disciplines with at least a credit OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

17. Bachelor of procurement and Supply Chain Management i) Be holders of Professional Certificate OR Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Insurance and Risk Management, Co-operative Management from institutions recognized by the Egerton University Senate and passed with at least a credit OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

ii) -A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects

18. Bachelor of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management – Be holders of Professional Certificate OR Diploma s in Co-operative Management, Banking, Finance, Agri-Business, Marketing, Insurance and Risk Management and Management Science disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate and passed with at least a credit OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

Admission may also be offered to those holding CPA II and/or its equivalent OR

-A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects

19. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) Diploma in Clinical Medicine from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate.
20. Bachelor of Science Clinical medicine Diploma in Clinical Medicine from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate.
21. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Diploma in Nursing with at least a Credit pass from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate.
22. Bachelor of Science in Foods Nutrition and Dietetics Diploma in related areas from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate with at least a credit.
23. Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.
24. Diploma in Modern Chemistry Laboratory Technology A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.
25. Diploma in Computer Science A relevant certificate from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

A level with at least 1 principal pass and 1 subsidiary pass in relevant subjects.

26. BSc. Applied Aquatic Sciences -A level certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and one subsidiary pass in relevant subjects
27. Bachelor of Science with Majors in BOTANY/ZOOLOGY, CHEMISTRY/, MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, GEOGRAPHY and BIOCHEMISTRY Diploma in sciences from an institution recognized by Egerton Senate with a bias towards a subject with at least a credit. OR

– Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience

28. Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Diploma in Biological Sciences or related field with at least a credit from a college or University recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

– Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience.

29. Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and Technology Diploma with at least a credit in Biological Sciences or related field from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR – Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience OR

Alternatively, candidates with the following A level passes will be considered.

B in Chemistry, B in Biology with a subsidiary pass in Mathematics. C in Physics or Chemistry and B in Biology with Credit in Physics at O-level Mathematics C+.

30. Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science A’ Levels (Mathematics, Physics and another Science subjects) and passed with at least ONE principle and TWO Subsidiaries passes or equivalent examination.

Diploma with at least a credit in Computer Science from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

– Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience.

31. Bachelor of Science in Computer Science A’ Levels (Mathematics, Physics and another Science subjects) and passed with at least ONE principle and TWO Subsidiaries passes or equivalent examination.

Diploma with at least a credit in Computer Science from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

– Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience.

32. Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science Diploma in Statistics and Education with Mathematics as a major subject, with at least a credit from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience.

A level: 2 principal passes in Maths/Physics, Maths/Chem, Maths/Econ

A degree in mathematics from a university recognized by the Egerton University Senate

33. Bachelor of Science in Statistics Diploma with at least a credit in Applied Statistics from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate OR

– Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience.

43. Bachelor of Early Child hood Development Education(ECDE) -PI Teachers’ Certificate and at least a KCSE Certificate with a mean Grade of C plain or A level I Principal and 2 Subsidiary passes.

-Diploma with at least a credit in Early Childhood Development Education from a recognized examining body OR Diploma with a pass and at least two years relevant working experience.

OR

-Certificate in ECDE teaching from a recognized examining body and at least a KCSE Certificate with a mean Grade of C plain or A level 1 Principal and 2 Subsidiary passes.

44. Diploma in Education (Primary Option P1 certificate with KCSE minimum grade of D+ and with a teaching experience of at least 2 years OR P1 certificate with KCSE mean grade of ‘C’ plain

57. Diploma in Library & Information Science Certificate with at least a credit in Library, Archives and Records Management or equivalent from an institution recognized by Egerton University Senate with working experience of 2 years.

73. Bachelor of Law (b.) Three (3) principal passes in A level certificate or its equivalent obtained at the same sitting, with an equivalent of a B Plain in English.

(c.) Three (3) principal passes in A level certificate or its equivalent obtained at different sittings, provided that the principals are of Grade C or higher; with an equivalent of a B Plain in English Language;

(d.) An undergraduate degree in any appropriate field other than law and a minimum of C+ (plus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination or its equivalent with a minimum of grade B (plain) in English Language;

(e.) Diploma in law of a legal education institution accredited by the Council of Legal Education, with at least a Credit pass or higher.

3) Holders of a certificate in Biological disciplines from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate.

77. Bachelor of Science in Animal Health Management and Production 1 Two principals and one Subsidiary pass at A level or equivalent, one of which must be in Biology and in any other science subject OR

2 A minimum of C (Plain) in KCSE and Diploma in Animal Health/a credit pass in Animal Husbandry, Wildlife Management, Range Management/ Agriculture/Medical Laboratory Technology and related disciplines from recognized institutions subject to Senate approval OR

3 Degree in Biological Sciences from institutions recognized by Egerton University Senate.

78 Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery 1) Be holders of A-level or its equivalent with two principals and one subsidiary pass, one of which must be in biology and others from chemistry, physics and mathematics OR

2) A minimum of a C in KCSE with a Diploma in Animal Health/a credit pass in Animal Husbandry, Wildlife Management, Range Management/ Agriculture/ Medical Laboratory Technology and related disciplines from recognized institutions subject to Senate approval OR

3) Be holder of a degree in Biological Sciences from institutions recognized by Egerton University senate.

Those who want to major in Mathematics must have passed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with the minimum grades as indicated for the following subjects: Physics B- (minus) or Physical Science B (plain) and Mathematics B- (minus). For those majoring in Botany/Zoology and Geography the minimum requirement for Mathematics is C (Plain).

Those intending to major in Geography need to have acquired at least grade C+ (plus) in Geography; a C+ (Plus) in one of the following subjects: Business Studies, Biology, Agriculture or B- (minus) in Physical Science; and a C plain (C) in Mathematics.

For those intending to major in Chemistry and Biochemistry they should possess at least C+ (plus) in Chemistry and in any two of the following three subjects: Mathematics, Biology and Geography

For those intending to major in Physics they should possess at least C+ (plus) in Physics and in any two of the following three subjects: Mathematics, Chemistry and Geography
