Bachelor of Accounting and Finance Admission Requirements in Kenya

There are over 10 universities in Kenya that offer Bachelor of Finance and Accounting. Each university has set its own admission requirements as stated below;

Exemption from any Courses in the Programme

Higher Diploma in Management or Equivalent

Applicants with the Higher Diploma or equivalent shall generally be exempted from the first two years of study on the programme, except that a candidate shall be required to take any course units in the first two years of study on the programme that they might not have covered in their earlier course of study to the satisfaction of Senate.

Diploma in Business Studies or Equivalent

Applicants with the Diploma in Accountancy, Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing or Procurement & Supplies Management or equivalent shall generally be exempted from the first two years of study on the programme, except that a candidate shall be required to take any course units in the first and second years of study on the programme that they might not have covered in their earlier course of study to the satisfaction of Senate.

For the Diploma (B-TEP) holders, the units that are core to the Degree of study shall have a maximum of 50% credit transfer.

Other Qualifications

The point of entry into the programme for candidates with qualifications other than KSCE, A-Levels, Diploma or Higher Diploma or CPA shall be approved by the Senate on the recommendations of the Academic Board of the School of Business & Management Studies and the College Academic Board, and shall be based on the qualifications of the applicant.

General Admission Requirements

Admission will be on the basis of academic qualifications and more specifically will be governed by any one of the following Senate approved regulations:

The following are eligible for admission into the programme:

a)   Holder of KCSE certificate with a minimum aggregate of  C+ and a minimum of  C in both Mathematics and English/Kiswahili.

b)     Holder of KACE certificate with a minimum of two principal passes and  a minimum of a credit  (6)  pass in Mathematics at KCE.

c)      Holder of a degree from a recognized university.

d)     Holder of a diploma from a recognized institution.

e)Holder of  CPA/CPS  Part II or equivalent professional qualification.

f)        Holder of pre-university qualification with minimum average score of C or equivalent from a recognized university.

g)     Holder of qualifications deemed to be equivalent to any of the above.

Zetech University Bachelor of Accounting and Finance- BAF Admission Requirements

  • An aggregate grade of C+ (C Plus) in K.C.S.E
  • Minimum of grade C- in Mathematics and English or Kiswahili
  • KNEC 3 years Diploma or its equivalent.

  1. Regular admission to a Bachelor’s degree programme requires a High School Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
  2. Applicants with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma may also be considered for entry.
  3. Applicants with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma in a relevant area may be considered for credit transfer.
  4. Applicants who do not meet the minimum academic requirements, but who have at least 2 years relevant, post-secondary professional experience, may also be considered for entry
  5. English proficiency.
