Programme Introduction

The Bowen University Advanced Level Programe is an intensive coaching programme from our dedicated lecturers and in a conducive learning environment is aimed at preparing students to pass advanced level examination (s) that would qualify them for direct entry admission into degree programme at Bowen University or several universities within and outside the country.

Programme Objectives

The Bowen University Advanced Level Programme aims at

preparing the students for full-time direct entry admission into the university
engaging the students academically, intellectually and socially in readiness for their various course of study
developing the students’ knowledge and skills in core subjects relevant to their proposed course of study
Admission Requirements
Candidates for admission into the Bowen University Advanced Level Programme must possess a minimum of five (5) O’Level credit passes at one or two sittings in WAEC and NECO {SSCE/GCE}/NABTEB or its equivalent {3 subjects relevant to their intended degree programmes plus Mathematics and English}
However, deficiency is allowed in Mathematics for Humanities/Arts candidates or English Language for Science candidate and not in both subjects. Such candidates may be permitted to take the affected O/Level subject concurrently with his/her A-Level subjects.
Candidates admitted into the programme with two (2) O’Level sitting must have satisfied possessing the minimum of five (5) O’Level credits before registration.

Programme Examination Types

The Bowen University Advanced Level Programme offers students the opportunity to take examinations of the following bodies
Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB)
Advanced Level Programme
University of Cambridge International Examinations Board Programme Duration/Examination Time Candidates willing to take up studies in the Bowen University Advanced Level Programme will spend between ten (10) months and twenty-four (24) months depending on the examination type the candidate will be taking

Placement into Degree Programmes

Placement into degree programmes is not automatic but shall be based on obtaining the required grades at the prescribed A Level examination for issuing direct entry certificates and satisfying all other conditions as prescribed for his/her course of study.

The BUALP offers the subjects based on the examination type the candidate will be taking.

JUPEB Advanced Level Subjects

ARTS Subjects – Christian Religions Studies, Literature-in-English, Government.

MANAGEMENT & SOCIAL SCIENCES Subjects – Accounting, Economics, Government and Business Studies.

SCIENCE Subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Agric Science.

Advanced Level Programme

ARTS Subjects – Christian Religions Studies, Literature-in-English, Government.

MANAGEMENT & SOCIAL SCIENCES Subjects – Accounting, Economics, Government, Sociology, Business Management

SCIENCE Subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Agric Science

ARTS Subjects – Divinity, Literature-in-English, Government

MANAGEMENT & SOCIAL SCIENCES Subjects – Accounting, Economics, Government, Sociology

SCIENCE Subjects – Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Agric Science

Nature of Examination

Candidates are expected to offer a minimum of two (2) or a maximum of three (3) combinable subjects at the examination of any of the examining board relevant for pursuance of a university degree on successful completion of the programme

Mode of Study

The mode of study shall be fully residential at the Bowen University’s campus, Iwo Osun State.

PAYMENT STRUCTURE

1. Maximum of N350,000.00 payable before or on resumption of 1st Semester. (Inclusive of Acceptance Fee).

2. Balance of N125,000.00 payable before or on resumption of 2nd Semester.

Above are the current fees subject to change at any time. These fees include accommodation but not including examination fees charged by each examination body.
