These are admission requirements for studying undergraduate courses at Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
UNDERGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS
a) Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies
(i)Bachelor of Science in Gender and Applied Women Health (Course duration is 3 years)
(ii)Bachelor of Science in Planning and Community Development (Course duration is 3 years)
At least 2 principle passes at UACE
(iii) Bachelor of Science in Agricultural livelihoods and Farm production (duration 4 years)
Students must either have 2 principal passes at UACE or its equivalent in the following subjects: Agriculture, Foods and Nutrition, Biology or Chemistry and at least a subsidiary pass in any other A’ Level subject, Entrepreneurship Skills and five credits at ‘O’ level (UCE)
- b) Faculty of Business and Management Sciences
(i) Bachelor of Business Administration (Course duration is 3 years)
(ii) Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Finance (Course duration is 3 years)
Requirements:
At least 2 principal passes either in Economics or Mathematics in UACE and a credit in Mathematics at UCE.
OR
Holds UDBS or ODBS or HFM Diploma recognized by the University or completed at least level one of CPA, ACCA, or CIMA.
(iii) Bachelor of science in procurement and supply chain management (duration 3 years)
Requirements:
Any two principle passes at A’level.
OR
Holds a Diploma in Business related field with a Credit score from a recognized institution
- c) Faculty of Medicine
(i)Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (Course duration is 5 years)
(ii)Bachelor of Pharmacy (Course duration is 4 years)
(iii)Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (Course duration is 4 years)
(iv)Bachelor of Nursing Science (Course duration is 4 years)
(v)Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Course duration is 3 years)
Admission requirements for (i), (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v);
At least 2 principal passes in Biology and Chemistry and at least Subsidiary Pass in either Physics or Mathematics.
(vi)Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (Course duration is 4 years)
At least 2 principal passes in Physics & Biology and at least a subsidiary pass in Biology.
- d) Faculty of Computing and Informatics Sciences
(i) Bachelor of Computer Science (Course duration is 3 years)
At least 2 Principal Passes one of which MUST be in Mathematics and the other in any of the following subjects:- Physics, Chemistry, and or Economics.
(ii)Bachelor of Information Technology (Course duration is 3 years)
A credit in Mathematics at ‘O’ level (UCE)
At least 2 principal passes in any ‘A’ level subjects.
(iii)Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering (Course duration is 4 years)
Two advanced level passes in Mathematics and Physics and at least a subsidiary pass in Chemistry or Economics.
- e) Faculty of Science
(i)Bachelor of Science with Education (Course duration is 3 years)
At least 2 principal passes in Mathematics and Physics or Biology and Chemistry.
(ii)A 2 year Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology
Entry requirements:
Either should hold an Advanced Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
With a principal pass in Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
And a pass in Mathematics obtained from Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent.)
OR
A Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology with at least a credit pass or its equivalent from a recognized institution plus 2 years’ experience.
(iii)1 year Certificate in Science Laboratory Technology
Entry Requirements:
A credit in two Science subjects i.e. Chemistry and Biology or Physics.
A pass in Mathematics and English.
(iv)A 2 year Diploma in Counseling (Full time & Distance)
Entry Requirements
A candidate should hold the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent and either, A’ level (UACE) with one principal pass in any subject done at the same sitting or its equivalent.
Or a degree/s in any field from a recognized university.
Or a diploma in any field of study from a recognized Institution.
Or those who fulfill requirements of mature age entry scheme of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
- g) Faculty of Applied Sciences
(i) Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering (Duration 4 years)
Direct Entry
Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with two principal passes in either Physics, Biology or Mathematics, and at least a subsidiary pass any other A’ Level Subjectsl.
Diploma Entry Requirement
Diploma in either Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Computer Engineering.
A Diploma in a relevant Medical Technology.
Other Diplomas approved by the University to be equivalent to any of those stated above
(ii) Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Duration 4 years)
Direct Entry
Two principal passes in Physics and Mathematics, and at least a subsidiary pass in either Chemistry, Geography, Computer studies, Technical Drawing, Economics or Biology obtained at the same sitting at UACE
Diploma Entry Requirement
Diploma in either Civil, Electrical, Telecommunications, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering.
A Diploma in a relevant Engineering Technology or Other Diplomas approved by the University to be equivalent to any of those stated above
(iii) Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering and Environmental Management (Duration 4 years)
Direct Entry
Two principal passes in either Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics, and at least a subsidiary pass in any other A’ level Subject
Diploma Entry Requirement
Diploma in either Civil, Electrical, Telecommunications, Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Mechatronics or Computer Engineering.
A Diploma in a relevant Engineering Technology or Other Diplomas approved by the University to be equivalent to any of those stated above
