Software Engineering Course Admission Requirements in Kenya

Software Engineering is among top 10 most marketable course in Kenya. There are a couple of universities and colleges that offer this program in the country. Admission requirements for each institution are different.

Here are universities/colleges offering the program in Kenya and the admission requirements;

• Egerton University Bachelor of Software Engineering Admission Requirements

All candidates admitted to the degree programme Bachelor of Software Engineering (SOEN) must satisfy one of the following minimum requirements;
Direct entry for Degree in Software Engineering must have an aggregate grade of C+ in KCSE with at least grade C+ in English or Kiswahili, and Mathematics and Physics, or its equivalent.
Those holding a credit pass and above in Diploma in an IT related programme from an institution recognized by the Egerton University Senate.
Those holding qualifications equivalent to the above from institutions recognized by the Egerton University Senate.

• JKUAT MSc. Software Engineering Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements
1.1 The common regulations for the Masters degree in the University shall apply.

1.2 The minimum requirements for eligibility into the Master of Science in Software Engineering are:
(a) Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Technology/Information Technology,  Mathematics and Computer science,  and Electronic Engineering of at least Upper Second Class Honours  of JKUAT.
(b) Holders of a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline: Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics and Physics of at least Upper Second Class Honours and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science of a minimum Credit grade from an institution recognized by senate or an equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by Senate.
(c) Any other qualification from an institution recognized by senate  and equivalent to (a) and (b) above.

2.     CREDIT TRANSFER

2.1 No candidate will be allowed to transfer more than one third of the total number of taught courses.
2.2 Application for exemption shall be considered only after the applicant has paid an exemption fee.

• Zetech University Diploma in Software Engineering- DSE Admission Requirements
