Entry Requirements for Diploma Courses
For KIMC examined diplomas a minimum of Grade C plain attained at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) or equivalent is required. In addition, prospective applicants are expected to meet specific requirements for each of the courses offered.
For Kenya National Exanimation Council (KNEC) examined diploma a minimum of Grade C minus attained at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) or equivalent is required. To be admitted into the Diploma in Journalism programme, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

Exemptions and Credit Tranfers
- Evidence supporting the application should include certified academic transcripts, certificates and a letter from the relevant registrar or authority
- Application for credit transfer will not be allowed three (3) weeks after the start of the semester / trimester unless granted permission by the University Senate.
- The University reserves the right to administer an appropriate test, through the relevant Department in order to determine whether exemption should be granted.

ST PAUL’S UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA IN JOURNALISM ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission requirements
- A minimum KCSE grade C- with a C in English OR
- O Level division III with a minimum of 38 points with 6 credits, one of which must be either in English Language or Literature in English. OR
- A‘ Level with 2 principal passes. OR
- D+ in KCSE with additional one-year certificate or above from a college OR
- Equivalents to the above qualifications as determined by St. Paul‘s University Senate.
Duration of the Programme
The duration of the course is three (3) semesters of 675 contact hours (45 hours per subject x 5 subjects per semester x 3 semesters)
3 Objectives of the Diploma in Journalism
The objectives of the programme is to enable the student understand the journalism field and acquire the skills and competencies required of a journalist. The course also aims at enabling the student to comprehend the challenges facing today‘s journalism professional and learn how to surmount these challenges. A graduate of the programme should not only qualify to study for the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Communication, but in the interim should be able to practice as a journalist.
Generally you will note that the minimum grade required by any university for entry into journalism career at diploma level is a C+ and at least C- in English.
