If you don’t have good grades to pursue a degree in computer science, you can opt for a diploma in the same and upgrade with time. Admission requirements for a diploma in Computer Science to various universities are as follows:
——-Egerton University Diploma in Computer Science Admission Requirements
The following shall be eligible for admissions to Diploma in Computer Science at Egerton University as per University Statute: Applicant must possess KCSE certificate with a minimum of C. In addition, he/she must have obtained at least the following grades:
Physics C OR Physical Sciences C
Maths C Kiswahili C
English C
OR
Applicant must possess KCE/EACE certificate with at least a Division three (3) with at least the following grades:
Physics or Physical Sciences Credit five (5).
Mathematics Credit four (4).
English Language Credit six (6) OR
Kiswahili Credit (6)
OR
Applicant must have passed KACE/EAACE examination. In addition, he or she must possess at least:
Subsidiary pass in Mathematics and
At least a credit pass in Physics/Physical Sciences at Ordinary level.
OR
Any equivalent qualification such as Certificate in Microcomputer Application, Programming etc recognized by the senate of Egerton University. Those with weak grades in physics and maths to be considered if they have certificates in Computer Applications and bridging from institutions recognized by Egerton University.

- Minimum grade of C (plain) in KCSE with C- (minus) in both Mathematics and English, OR

Direct entry
For a student to be admitted into the diploma into computer engineering, he/she should certify one of the following minimum requirements.
i. The student must be a holder of a minimum aggregate grade of C in KCSE and grade C- in Mathematics and Physics
Or Division III in KCE with credit passes in Mathematics and English
ii. The student must have credit pass and above in the Certificate in Computer Engineering or equivalent qualification may be considered for admission.
Mature Entry Requirements
The mature age entry requirements are as stipulated below
• Minimum aggregate of C- plus a relevant certificate
• Have at least two years’ work experience in the field of study being sort
• Pass an entrance examination set and administered by the university.
