MBA is one of the most popular masters programs in Zimbabwe. Many business professionals choose this course because it promises career growth and better salaries. Admission requirements to various universities in our country is almost the same for all universities.

If you are planning to join any of Zimbabwean universities for a MBA program, below are admission and entry requirements

MIDLANDS STATE UNIVERSITY MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The following are entry requirements for MBA studies at Midlands State University in Zimbabwe

Faculty of Commerce.

  1. Masters in Business Administration – Block Release (2 years)

Entry Requirements.

  • Be at least 25 years of age.
  • Be a holder of at least a second class degree or its equivalent awarded by Midlands State University or any other recognized institution.  A holder of a third class degree or its equivalent may be admitted only after providing evidence of academic maturity in the desired field of study as shall be judged by Faculty Post Graduate Studies Committee.
  • Have at least (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Provide two references from reputable people certifying their ability and suitability to undertake the programme successfully.
  • Submit a statement of purpose, stating why they would like to pursue the MBA programme.
  • Submit a research proposal on a dissertation topic of their choice which has to be at least five (5) typed pages.
  1. Executive MBA (EMBA) – Block Release (2 years)

Entry requirements.

  • Be at least 40 years of age.
  • Be an Executive of their own business or has been a manager for at least ten (10) years.
  • Hold at least a diploma from a recognized institution in a recognized area of study.
  • Be required to provide two references from reputable people certifying their ability and suitability

to undertake the programme successfully.

  • Undergo an interviewing process conducted by the Faculty Post Graduate Studies Committee.
  1. Master of Commerce, Accounting – (18mths).

Applicants should have an Honours degree with a specialization in Accounting.

4        Master of Commerce, Economics – (18mths).

Applicants should have an Honours degree with a specialization in Economics.

5        Master of Commerce, Strategic Management and Corporate Governance – (2 years).

Applicants should have an Honours degree in Management, Accounting, Human Resources Management and /or other tertiary qualification approved by the department.

6        Master of Commerce, Marketing Strategy – (18mths).

Applicants should have a good Honours degree (1st or upper second) in Marketing, Business Management or their equivalents or any other degree plus an appropriate professional qualification (e.g. IMM, CIMA).

7        Master of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality Management – ONLINE

Applicants should have an Honours degree with a specialization in Tourism or related fields

WOMEN’S UNIVERSITY IN AFRICA MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The minimum entry requirements for postgraduate programmes shall be at least 2.2 or better in a relevant first degree and any other relevant professional qualifications.

International students shall be required to undergo an oral and written communication skills test to assess their proficiency in English.  English shall be the official language of instruction.

ESAMI MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Admission Criteria

Candidates eligible for Masters programmes must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or equivalent.

The Kingston MBA is a generalist course that is offered as a full-time and a part-time (executive) programme. Our specific MBA admissions criteria reflect the fact that students on the programmes often have different academic and business backgrounds.

Specific MBA admissions criteria

Committing to an MBA is a huge, life-changing decision. We want your experience on the Kingston MBA to be challenging, enjoyable and rewarding, so making sure we select both the right students and the right mix of students is extremely important. We use a set of admissions criteria to determine if a student is ready to take on an MBA. The criteria help us to make sure that you can successfully complete the MBA, and that each cohort of students will work together successfully as a team.

  Area   Requirement  You need to provide:
 Academic First degree or recognised equivalent from a professional body. Certified copy of your degree, transcripts, or letter of award.
We also consider applications from individuals with considerable management experience but no first degree. Evidence of alternative professional development and achievement.

Subject to individual assessment, a GMAT result (we would usually look for a score of 620 or above).

Work experience Minimum of three years’ relevant work experience for the full-time programme or five years’ managerial experience for the executive programme. Two letters of reference from employers or from an employer and an academic source.
English proficiency Very proficient written and spoken English. Applicants whose first language is not English are expected to meet our requirements for English language proficiency (see below for details).
Motivation The MBA is a big commitment. We need to know you have thought about the opportunity and the consequences of studying. Personal statement (750 words maximum) within application form.

THE UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ZIMBABWE STUDENTS

University of Sheffield, UK offers opportunity to students from Zimbabwe to pursue MBA at the institution. Requirements for the programme are as follows:

For Entry to Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc

Bachelor degree Holders of a good bachelor degree awarded with Honours (generally an upper second class) from a recognised Zimbabwean university will be considered for admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes.
Masters degree Holders of a good Masters degree from a recognised Zimbabwean university will be considered for admission to postgraduate diploma masters programmes.
MBA Applicants As well as suitable qualifications (as per the information above) at least 3-5 years’ post-graduation work experience will be necessary for direct admission to our triple accredited MBA.

Applicants with the equivalent of a lower class second degree and considerable work experience may be considered.

THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Research postgraduate entry requirements

You must have completed a bachelors (honours) degree or postgraduate diploma from the University of Auckland, or a postgraduate taught qualification from a recognised university (or similar).

Masters degrees are usually either one-year (120 points), 18 months (180 points), or two-years (240 points), of full-time study. Eligibility depends on completed prior study. Not all programmes include all options.

On completion of an undergraduate degree with good academic grades in a field relevant to your chosen specialisation, you may enter a 240 point, and specific 180 point, masters degrees. Previous work experience may be taken into account.

Many programmes such as architecture, fine arts, music, urban design or writing, require supplementary evidence of creative ability (eg, a portfolio or audition). Check the faculty’s postgraduate prospectus or talk to a postgraduate adviser.

Masters degree (120 points) requirements

Current students
You must have completed a bachelors (honours) degree or a postgraduate diploma in a field relevant to your chosen specialisation, with a GPA of 5.0. Some programmes may require higher scores, including the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting or Finance.

Prospective students
You must have completed one year of postgraduate study, following an undergraduate degree, at a recognised university (or similar) in a field relevant to your chosen specialisation. Four year bachelors degrees will be considered where the final year consists of postgraduate-level study.
You will typically require a GPE of 5.0.  Some programmes may require higher scores, including the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting or Finance.

Masters degree (180 points and 240 points) requirements

Current students
You must have completed a bachelors degree with a GPA of 5.0 in Stage III courses relevant to your specialisation. Some programmes may require higher scores, including the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting or Finance. Some 180 point masters degrees require a bachelors (honours) degree.

Prospective students
You must have completed an undergraduate degree at a recognised university (or similar) in a field relevant to your chosen specialisation. Some 180 point masters degrees require a year of postgraduate study, equivalent to a bachelors (honours) degree.
You will typically require a GPE of 5.0.  Some programmes may require higher scores, including the Master of Commerce (Honours) in Accounting or Finance.

SOLUSI UNIVERSITY MBA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
For admission into the MBA programme, applicant must have:
1) A bachelor’s degree in business administration with a cumulative GPA of 2.70 or upper second class; or
2) A recognized professional qualification deemed to be equivalent to a degree such as CIS, CIMA, ACCA, or
3) A bachelor’s degree or equivalent to any faculty from a recognized university, with a cumulative GPA of 2.70 or upper second class.
4) Applicants with a degree other than in business administration may be admitted subject to completion of 15 credits of bridging courses, and earn an average grade of B-.
