Nutrition and dietetics is a course offered by all the top universities in Kenya. The course is marketable for aggressive graduates but it can be frustrating if you rely on employment.
One factor that makes nutrition course marketable is the fact that many people are watching their health, so many hospitals and health & fitness facilities are looking for Nutritionists to work for them.
I can comfortably tell you that once you are through with your degree, chances are that you will easily land a job at any catering company, hotel or NGO in Kenya. The market for nutritionists has expanded yet graduates are few.
But one thing you should remember is that it’s hard to get a full time job when you are fresh from college. The best thing to do when you are in this situation is get yourself an internship so as to get experience, then you’ll have a basis to demand for better pay.
Salaries for Nutritionists vary depending on institutions you work for. If you manage to work in a five star hotel or companies like Red Cross, The Nairobi Hospital,Aga Khan hospital chances are that you will earn more than Ksh60,000 starting salary.
