A degree in Statistics is one of the best programs to pursue in Kenya. It is of much importance to know the minimum qualifications required to be admitted to a local university.
Since a degree in statistics is a tough course, one of the most important requirement is at least a B plain in Mathematics. At the University of Nairobi, if you wish to study this course as a regular student, you have to score at least A- in KCSE, same to JKUAT and Strathmore Universities. On top of considering the general grade, the universities also consider what you scored in physics and mathematics…arts courses don’t matter.
If you are planning to study applied statistics, biostatistics or statistics general course in a Kenyan university, ensure you have scored at least a B plain. The grade is required for admission as a parallel student, but for regular students you have to score at least an A-.It is hard to be admitted to UoN if your general grade is not a strong A- or A plain, but with a B plain you can join on parallel arrangement.
The best universities to study statistics in Kenya include UoN, Strathmore, Maseno, JKUAT, KU, Moi and Egerton University.
Remember before you enroll for the course that you will be ambushed if you are not good in mathematics.
